recycling
hello!
Hi greenthumbs. It’s dirtgirl here! It’s time to get into recycling!
Together, we’re going to find out what it means to reduce, reuse and recycle. And we’re going to learn how to sort and handle our rubbish with care.
You can sing and dance to ‘eco hoe down’, and make your own recycled creations. Then it’s time for some pirate fun!!
In our Love Food Club, we’re making food fit for a pirate ship! And on my blog for kids, it’s week 1 of our recycle like a rockstar challenge!
So are you ready to get grubby? Let’s get into recycling!

let’s celebrate
We’re excited in dirtgirlworld, because it’s National Recycling Week from 9-15 November!
To get involved you could set up a recycling bin system and label them with our special dirtgirlworld labels. Or you could take a waste-free lunch box to school! For more ways to get involved in your home, school or community visit the National Recycling Week website.
Costa the Garden Gnome has a very special message for you!
handle with care
Handling our rubbish with care is one of the most powerful ways to care for our beautiful planet. Watch this video clip to find out more about the 3 Rs…and to learn how to talk like a pirate hahah!
What happens to your rubbish after it gets taken away? It ends up in landfill and that’s a BIG problem. It never really goes away!
But you can help change this! Together, we can write a new story about rubbish and become the world’s best spectacular recycling rockstars! And it’s super easy to do. You just need to put the right things in the right bin! Watch this video clip to find out how.

If you live in Australia, you can find out what can be recycled in your local area on Planet Ark’s Recycling Near You website. Just pop in your postcode and it will bring up a list.

good news
In Kenya, there are people transforming old rubber thongs found on beaches into recycled art and sculptures. 100% of the profits from selling them go towards conservation. That’s my type of art!
