Upstairs
Why do worms visit after rain? 🌱
Hello Grubsters,
It rained all night.
By morning, the garden smelled fresh and shiny.
That's when I noticed something!
The worms were upstairs.
Which made me wonder...
Do worms call the soil "downstairs"?
And do they think the garden is upstairs?
I don't think worms come up because they're lost.
I think they're just visiting upstairs for a little while!
Funny where wondering can take you ...
Imagine spending almost your whole life beneath the ground.
Then one rainy day ...
... you decide to pop upstairs and see what's been happening.
The birds are singing.
The leaves are dancing.
The raindrops are still hanging from the grass!
What a lovely morning to visit.
Perhaps that's why I always smile when I see worms after rain.
It feels as though the whole garden has come out to say hello.
Now I'm wondering something else ...
If the garden has an upstairs ...
... what else might be living downstairs that we hardly ever meet?
One more wonder...
Do roots ever tickle worms as they wriggle past?
Keep noticing!
Love,
dirtgirl 💚
