discover

In soil, there are tiny ‘microbes’ that help our bodies become stronger and healthier.

Scientists have even discovered good bacteria in dirt called Mycobacterium vaccae which helps your body release ‘serotonin’, the body’s chemical which helps to improve your mood! Amazing!

So it’s ok to get grubby outdoors and it’s lots of fun!

If we never get dirty, we don’t get a chance to get the good bacteria on us.

Just remember to wash your hands properly with warm water and soap after you’ve finished playing in the dirt and mud.

make a mud kitchen

Do you have a mud kitchen outside at your place? Maybe you could make one! Here are some ideas.

go wild for maths … mud challenge

Watch our Go Wild for Maths “mud challenge” to see how to be an engineer and build a mini mud or clay carport outside. Before playing with mud or clay make sure you put on some old clothes that can get grubby!

nature detective mission

Here’s your take away mission … make a mud monster to add to our mud monster family!

You can post a pic or video to social media. Use the hashtags #dirtgirlworld #iamoutside to make sure I discover it. Or you can post it on the Kinderling Kids Radio and dirtgirlworld Facebook pages. Just check with your grown-ups first, as different families have different rules for social media and we are totally cool with that.
